Chris Doak.Opened 1917 for cine-variety, with a couple of dressing rooms and a stage which was 18ft deep. Owned by the 1930s by the Motherwell's Scott Theatres Ltd. Full time cinema from 1930, then the a bingo hall called the Regal - not to be confused with the former Regal Cinema elsewhere in the town!
Demolished March 2019.

Scottish Cinemas ArchiveOriginally opened in 1909 as a music hall, converted to a cinema in1914 in an old music hall of 1909. Had a bit of a reputation as a flea pit, destroyed by fire in 1930. Replaced by the Regal which was built on the same site.

Scottish Cinemas ArchiveOpened in 1930 on the same site as the Grand Central which had been destroyed by fire. It had some theatrical ability with three dressing rooms and a 24ft x 20ft stage.
Like its predecessor, it was run by various members of the Train family. Alterations in 1937 were devised by architect Alexander Cullen and regular cinema builders Stelmachs Ltd.
Ownership passed to Buchan Enterprises Ltd by the early-1950s. It went over to bingo in 1963 but was destroyed by fire, like its predeccesor, on 5th September 1967.
