Scottish Cinemas ArchiveThe buildings forming the Number 30 development in Huntly are an amalgamation of structures mostly dating from the 1870s, which were operated until 2018 by the town's famous Cruickshanks Department Store. They expanded over the years into adjacent buildings of different ages, which carry their own listing description and category.
In 2018, the store closed and a year later, the site was purchased by the Huntly Development Trust. They transformed it into the current facility, bringing cinema back to the town for the first time since the closure of the Huntly Playhouse in 1970. The complex had a soft opening in September 2024 with a screening of "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice", and a fuller ceremonial opening took place in April 2025. The building also contains a cafe, meeting and office space, gallery and shop spaces. The cinema's seats are retractable for maximum flexibility.
Currently, cinema generally operates on fives nights a week - usually being closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
