Originally run as a cinema by the Fifeshire Cinema Company, who had operated a cinema in the town's Beach Hall Pavilion. The Regent was, along with the nearby Troxy, absorbed into the JB Milne circuit by the early 1960s.

They converted it to bingo, probably in the late 60s, and it went to be run by various operators. Closed as a Gala bingo hall on 31st July 2009. It was then taken over by the Leven Community Cinema group, who converted it to a single screen cinema operation. Closed by them in 2013, it was then taken over by the same operator as the Kino in Glenrothes, who reopened it as the Kino Leven in 2014. Subdivided so that the balcony became a second screen.

Cinema operations ceased for the second time on 31st December 2023, and the building appears to have been unoccupied since.
