MediCinema are a charity who fund the building and operation of cinemas within children's hospitals. The original Glasgow site was located within the Yorkhill Children's Hospital and opened in 2007. It was upgraded to digital with 3-D capability in 2012.
When Yorkhill closed as a children's hospital in 2015, a new MediCinema was built within its replacement at the Royal Children's Hospital Glasgow (RCHG). The RCHG is part of the larger Queen Elizabeth University Hospital complex which had recently opened in Govan, on the site of the former Southern General Hospital.
